If you travel to Medellín you should try the bandeja paisa, which is a set of preparations that includes: beans, rice, chicharrón, powdered meat, chorizo, blood sausage, fried egg, slice of ripe plantain, arepa, salad and avocado. It is served on a slab or wooden tray.

It is also very traditional to eat the arepa paisa; it is made with cooked corn, ground and kneaded, without other ingredients, so it is tasteless by itself and its final flavor depends on what is added. It is usually accompanied with butter and salt, but also, according to taste, with avocado, hogao, cheese, shredded meats, etc.

The parva is a traditional component of Antioquian gastronomy; this name is given to a wide variety of bakery items, among which stand out the pandequeso, the bizcocho, the pandeyuca, the pandero and the pan.

How to get to Medellin?

BY PLANE: The city has two airports, one international and one domestic. The first one is José María Córdova Airport, located about 35 kilometers from the city.

BY PLANE OR BY ROAD. You can do it from the capital city Bogotá either flying to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport (EOH) or by car, cab or bus.
