Window to the World Monument
This structure is a work of modern art that seeks to represent the opening of this region to Colombia and the world. The window represents the creativity and talent of Barranquilla, and is related to the city’s name: “La Puerta de Oro” (The Golden Gate).
It reaches a height of 47 meters in front of the sea and represents a window, hence its name. It is an icon of Barranquilla and shows the development and potential of a city in constant growth.

Gran Malecon
Enjoy a pleasant walk along the boardwalk of Magdalena River. Gran Malecon have 5 km where you will find gastronomic, sports, cultural and recreational spaces. It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the sea breeze.
In the photo you see the 30 m high structure called ‘La Ventana de Campeones’, or, the ‘Shark’s Fin’, which is a monument built for the Junior de Barranquilla team that was donated by the firm Tecnoglass

Metropolitan Cathedral Maria Reina
It is the most important church in the city and one of the most modern in Colombia. Its architectural design is very innovative and was inspired by the shape of a tent.
Officially called the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mary Queen and Helper of Barranquilla, it is a building whose construction took 27 years and was designed by the Italian architect Angelo Mazzoni de Grande.

Antigua Aduana Cultural Complex
It is a cultural center that is integrated by the Historical Archive of the Department of Atlántico, the Pilot Library of the Caribbean, the Pilot Children’s Library of the Caribbean and the Hans Federico Neuman Music Documentation Center. It is housed in restored historic buildings such as the old Customs building and the Tramway and Montoya stations.

Sacred Heart Park
It is located in the Ciudad jardín neighborhood in the north of Barraquilla and since its remodeling in 2019, it is considered one of the most enjoyable and familiar spaces where you can practice sports, meet with friends and enjoy a cool afternoon in the city.
75% of the park is green area, which represents a total of 21,340 square meters to be in contact with nature in the middle of the city. it also has an amphitheater where events are frequently held.

Art deco tour
One of the first impressions we had in the city is that art deco left its mark on the city and the following are some examples of this style.
Rex Theater
It is an art deco building designed as a theater in the mid-1930s by Cuban architect Manuel Carrerá.
It is currently reopened as a restaurant and thematic museum dedicated to cinema.

Colón Theater
The Colón Theater is an art deco movie theater designed in the mid 1940s also by Cuban architect Manuel Carrerá.

Romelio Martínez Stadium
Located between 72nd and 74th streets and 44th and 46th races, it was built in 1934 to host the 1935 National Athletic Games. It was initially a space intended for baseball practice to later become a neighborhood soccer field. It was finally remodeled and expanded between 2016 and 2018 to host the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games. of its original style remains the north grandstand which is clearly art deco.

Carnival House
We told you that Barranquilla is a vibrant Colombian destination and one of the reasons is its famous carnival, one of the biggest in the world. The Casa del Carnaval is a museum dedicated to this celebration, where you can learn about the traditions, costumes and music that make this event a unique experience.

San Antonio de Salgar Castle
It is a 19th century construction located at the mouth of the Magdalena River.
The building is located twenty minutes from the city of Barranquilla, northwest and was built in 1848 on the ruins of the old fort of San Antonio, during the colonial era. It is located on a vertical slope, to the west of the beaches of Salgar. It is a place of historical interest, because the castle was a Spanish fort that served as a prison, as a colony and later as a refuge.
It is currently a tourist site where you can appreciate a beautiful view of the sea and the mouth of the river.
